CannaSense Foundation is offering four $1,000 College Scholarships

In Memory of Mitch Raff & Janet Byrne

To be eligible for the Mitch Raff/Janet Byrne Scholarship a student must:

1.)  Be attending college or university on a full-time basis by August of 2020.

2.) Submit an answer to the essay question no later than 11:59 PM EST on July 1, 2020.  Winners announced no later than August 1, 2020. All entries are timestamped so entries after the date above in our system will not be included.

3.)  Be currently in your last year of high school or a graduate currently a freshman, sophomore, or junior in college/university.

What to submit for all scholarships :

• An essay on a topic relevant to the scholarship purpose, 500 words or less:

Essay Topic 1: The Mitch Raff/Janet Byrne Scholarship is awarded to a High School senior or current undergraduate/graduate student who has experienced mental illness themselves, a family member or friend. Discuss the challenges you faced and what challenges you had to overcome in achieving your education.
Essay Topic 2: The Mitch Raff/Janet Byrne Scholarship is awarded to a High School senior or current undergraduate/graduate student who has experienced the devastating loss of a parent, caregiver sibling, or friend to suicide. Discuss the challenges you had to overcome in achieving your education and the coping mechanisms you used to aid in your healing.
Essay Topic 3: The Mitch Raff/Janet Byrne Scholarship is awarded to a male or female athlete of a High School senior or current undergraduate/graduate student athlete. Tell us how sports has made a difference in your life and explain your journey.
Essay Topic 4: The Mitch Raff/Janet Byrne Scholarship is awarded to a High School senior or current undergraduate/graduate student who has themselves had cancer or witnessed a family member who was afflicted with cancer. Tell us about your journey and what you learned from it.
For each essay:
  • 500 words or less
  • Describe your academic and career goals, your plans to achieve them
  • Discuss the challenges you have overcome in achieving your education due to the topic you choose.
  • Please include your plan on continuing your success.
  • For applicants desiring anonymity, authentic essays will be accepted written in the third person utilitizing "John Galt" as a pen name.

Disbursement of funds will be made directly to the school.
